To those of you who haven’t been seeing my scanned photos under PRESS lately in Facebook, I have added another entry to my resume and that is (pimping myself) writing for a local newspaper in Cebu. See scanned clips below.
No, I’m not writing about the latest news and public affairs. I can hardly commit to an entire paragraph of a sports feature. I write about what happened when you suddenly have the propensity to indulge in huge amounts of alcohol on a Saturday and declare amnesia when you woke up in a different city the morning after. I kid. That’s what normally happens but my articles have always been wholesome (disappoints you because its not soft porn) and fun (makes you regret not being out on that day).
Yes, I have been published before in my hometown when I did some stint for Mindanao Gold Star Daily. I tried the Urban Lifestyle section before editing all the section articles that come my way. Not only it was the best excuse to party but also adds oomph to my experiences. I had ONE advertiser but not an advertising company in Cebu and it was my mom’s company. Oh well.
But at least I’m no stranger to seeing my byline in hard copy printed on newsprint. I did go through that Oh-my-God-you-have-to-take-a-photo-of-this-newspaper-with-my-name-on-it stage until it got old and the only thing that I keep on ferreting about now is how the layout is now what I wanted it done or how the photos look like it was taken by a 3-year old. You tend to overanalyze over everything and overcriticize. And my worst critic? Me.
Please grab copies of my articles sometime at the Freeman Lifestyle. I tweet about it if something I’ve written has been published on Tuesdays for Food and Restaurants, Wednesdays for Lifestyle Youth and Fridays for Fashion.
