May 5, 2011 – I was in a coma. I was a trajectory, people. I couldn’t get over the fact that somewhere in the Philippines, there is a tiny island that gives you the license to indulge in yourself. It is an exorcism of hedonism you didn’t know existed inside you.
Ah, Boracay. I couldn’t get enough after our intimate Valentine weekend in the first quarter of the year that I had to go back. When one of my bestfriends cajoled-forced-tied my hands-threatened to burn my shoes-blackmailed me into going with the group in May, I was already planning my daily outfit itinerary before I shrieked yes over the phone.
Thanks to W, this Boracay trip was faster, easier, shorter and hella expensive! Hahaha. There were a few factors that influenced the trip’s itinerary but no one was complaining because going on trips is not about where you are going to spend your holidays but who are you going to be spending your trip with. We missed Michelle who was supposed to be on board but again, there is always another reason to go back to Boracay with the entire group in the future. Yes, Jonex, I’m talking to you!
Everything was a blur on Thursday at Tinderbox, Mactan International Airport. Cebu Pacific bumped us into the next flight out to Kalibo instead of Caticlan and I feel like it was February all over again when we took bus trips from Iloilo. I thought I was no longer tolerating another hella bus ride to Boracay but it was either we go or not and neither any of us wanted to cancel a trip just because. Again, it was something else to look forward to – going to Boracay and landing in Caticlan airport this time. At least Cebu Pacific was generous enough to offer us a free ONE WAY ticket to anywhere else in the Philippines valid for 6 months. Yes, another trip will be in order soon.
One of the things also that I learned when travelling to Boracay is that transfers DO matter. See, from Kalibo airport, Cebu Pacific gave us free bus rides heading to Caticlan Boat Terminal but after an hour or so, we were greeted with the longest blockbuster queue at the Caticlan Jetty port. Oh, my! Had I known that this was going to happen, I would have booked us that stress-free transfer from Caticlan to the hotel’s beachfront. And we also wanted the chartered boats of Discovery Shores or Shangri-La Hotel. Damnit! So arte but sometimes convenience is priceless.
