One of the islands that I have always wanted to conquer in the Cebu-Visayas Region is Camotes Island among others and it is just sad that we only got to stay there overnight. When friends decided to go there on a Sunday, you have no choice but to get back the next day because your work after all is your priority. Well, we have to grow up sometime. Wink.
Given that the whole trip going to the island takes about 3 hours the most, the group was already up at 4am Sunday morning and hopped on the first public vehicle we saw that would take us to Danao Terminal. A small ferry then crossed all the way to the whatever Ocean and brought us to the province of Camotes.
terminal fee that cheap huh?
On the slow boat to the Island
Hahah don’t tell him I posted this.
I love it! The van that was waiting for us at the pier took us to Santiago Bay and made us pay P100 for a 10minute ride! Blasted! And I thought this was a small province who is grateful for a measly tip of P20? Tsk tsk. Never underestimate the bellboy who grabs your bags – he might charge you P100!
Santiago Bay Resort
The view from the restaurant
One of our rooms has one double and one single bed and costs about P1200. Breakfast meals are at P70. Not bad, right? Until we discovered a small kitchenette across the resort that has a karaoke machine and grills fresh fish (read: catch of the day) and realized that you have to be resourceful enough if you want variety. Hahaha.
Heading to that carenderia
SUTUKIL – Sugba Tinola Kinilaw
But dining at the resto is just as swell too.
Did I tell you Santiago Bay doesn’t have any service at all?
My friends rented two motorcycles so they could go around the city but I’m a boring person so I stayed behind and yes, I know, I missed a lot but I hate those motorcycles and my friends got into an accident when they got back. One of the bikes slipped and fell when Levi abruptly made a stop. Erika was with him and both of them went flying off the bike. Cuts, bruises and a torn dress – that’s what they had. I guess that was perhaps the highlight of our overnight stay.
This is Levi and Erika before the accident.
The group got back to Cebu the following day as if nothing happened. Boy, this summer thing is short. I’m looking forward to more. Till next! 🙂
