Sometimes they shape you up, sometimes they just plainly turn you callous. When Sendong hit my beloved city, I am embarrassed to admit that it was probably the only turning point that made me rethink my priorities. But before I delve into that, I just want to round off my 2011 with a few summaries of what had taken place since then:
This post would entirely be dedicated to events that I would like to remember that made such significance in my planner – whether Starbucks or my smartphone.
The days after the holidays always extend the frenzy of the galas, the merry-making and the abiba due to Sinulog! Who can ever miss the kick-off event that is the annual Miss Cebu 2011 pageant? It was my first time in a series of Miss Cebu events that I got to sit in the front! Hahah.
A few institutions also turned one in March – my absolute favorite weekday indulgence, Cebu Trivia Night, turned one year old in February! Congrats to Alexis, Jewel and Leica! This threesome is the best! Hahah no pun. Happy anniversary also Vudu Cebu and The Penthouse. Of course, yours truly cannot ever miss that happening.
Yours truly was also invited by Danny Booc to screen male models for Danny’s annual the Male Factor Show in Cebu. Almost 300 models showed up to be part of the 30-man show that will become an annual fashion event to showcase male modelling in Cebu. Along with Ronald Icban, Chyrel Gomez and Yves Camingue, we were proud of the models we selected that day!
I would also like to congratulate my cousin-in-law’s venture into teaching the art of fashion by opening Fashion Institure and Design in Cagayan de Oro! Cagayan de Oro fashion designer slash entrepreneur slash amazing and stylish mom Mimi Parrel-Pimentel launched the school in the second quarter of 2011 with a huge fashion show directed by Philippine Fashion Week director Raymund Villanueva who I got to sit side by side during the show when I did voice-overs.
