When Daisy of SMEG invited us over to DIY our pizzas inside their chic showroom at the Design Center, my first thought was to come up with a pizza flavor/dish in mind and second was the perfect color combo outfit to match their equally stylish kitchen.
I mean – have you seen SMEG’s showroom in Cebu?
The Italian home appliance manufacturer based in Guastalla is known for their creativity and style: these are the qualities that spring from Smeg’s Italian identity and characterize the Company’s commitment to bringing everyday objects to life. Besides aesthetics, Smeg’s identity is really an manifestation of its actual Italian origins such as inventive elegance, originality and quality.
The afternoon we had our pizza party had us seeing Chef Marco Anzani in action as he demonstrates how to make the flat bread and how to use the best Mozarella in town – of course it came from Italy! He also had us milling, rolling and mixing up our dough in no time and I was too quick to come up with my stuffed Mozarella-crust pizza.
We had SO MUCH FUN. Even if we didn’t make the dough from scratch, the entire experience made us so proud of ourselves.
Smeg appliances are thus snapshots of Italian style, from the retro 50s refrigerators to steel only cookers, and are able to shape trends and tastes and establish a relationship with the user that goes beyond more practical concerns. With this philosophy in mind, the firm has embarked on projects with leading designers and architects and internal development programs which assess current tastes and local trends.
