Station 2, and D’Mall may be the center of everything in Boracay Island but what happens if you have been staying there for almost a week? Shouldn’t you have been discovering other parts of the island, too?
Hello, Puka Beach! Puka = hole. Hole Beach! Haha. Seriously, Puka means shell with a hole. Holefish! From D’Mall, we chartered a ride with a pedicab for P150. The ride took about 20 minutes and was greeted by this –
Talcum-fine white sands seem to contradict this rough part of the island. The beach water is rougher and there are hardly anyone around. Very empty. No fancy hotels nor restaurants. You can see a chain of outdoor restaurants in the right part of Puka Beach.
We spent about P1000 for our lunch. They served us the fresh catch for the day – some Lapu-lapu and king prawns.
Because there were hardly any people around, most vendors would likely pounce on you the minute they see you. “Ma’am, puka shell, ma’am!” I got my mom a rosary made of puka shells and a few jewelry to give away. I practically had to haggle their prices down to 300 from 800PHP each. Talk about marketing!
Happy to have visited CNN’s listing of the “World’s 50 Best Beaches” on its travel site, CNNGo. They ranked Puka Beach No. 41. Amazing, huh? It makes me proud to see the Philippines as part of ANY international list in the world. Travelers and tourists and hey, YOU should visit us here and perhaps embark on a mountain sojourn or book your luxury chalet with Supertravel.co.uk to get started with your Philippine travel journal!
We knew it was going to be hard to get a ride getting back so we rented a bugcar for P1,000/hour just to get around the area.
Bugcars have their own route and are not allowed to be anywhere near White Beach so yes, you cannot show off that you are driving in one. Ha.
The hour long tour took us to Mt. Luho – the highest peak in Boracay Island, babe! Entrance fee P60.00
Check out the colorful peacock. How many earrings can I make with THAT TAIL?
Soak in the view of Boracay Island, friends! Till the next post! xx
