I just got the email from Angeli Hernando, a good friend of mine in CDO has considered moving to CEBU at the end of the month. After persistent goading from her, she finally relented BUT she has a loooot of questions in her head that finally resorted to one LONG email. And her interest in computers, keyboards and PCs matches that of a cockroach’s foot.
She started with,
hello girl! im so excited baya. i’d like to experience gyud how it is like na mag lisod. joke! bitaw, i dont have plans baya to leave cdo tin. im so super lost man gud. id like to explore around na ako sa so i would find myself. i dont have plans to work there but what will i do man sad dia na everybody is working man pud.. maybe if i give time for myself dia, maybe id be able find answers to all of this ka- cornihan na ako gibati. my gohd if you only knew sa ako ka confused karon to the point na ga kanchawan ko ni rona… maybe tes is right, maybe gaka pressure lang ko… hhhmmmnnn… anyway
Which I ended up going:
Angelat.. I swear, what is going on with you? What man imong nakaon? (What did you eat) Did you have a fight with your boyfriend? I understand how you’re feeling. I feel like I got to know myself MORE when I’m here ’cause everything happens at the spur of the moment. Impromptu. All decisions have to be made NOW. Now na. You can’t call your mom or dad just to ask for advise. You would get to learn to decide for yourself which also means that you’d also learn to tell what’s good for you. Any mistakes you do, you learn from it. And then you commit it again. Hahahaha.
She also has sangkatutak na questions that made her go:
i’d like to know the following, and please be generous and kind enough to make chaga in answering the ff: love you tin!!!!! mwah…
As translated, here are her beauty pageant questions.
1. How much is the cost of living in CEBU? Is it really expensive?
Usually .. me, with my CRAZY na life.. hehe.. hmm.. kaya 2,500 for 15 days — SUBSISTING lang yan ha! Like cab fare, meals, tips, tickets, etc —Without pana mga SHOPPING, MOVIES, mga DINE OUT and all.. Eto mga excess? ARTE lang and mga NOT IMPORTANT na gasto like movies, LAAG, makeup, grooming maintenance, salons and etc.
So… 15 days P2,500 — pwede na maka-last 5,000 a month. For SUBSISTENCE, again! Guys, this is CEBU we’re talking about. CEBU. B.
BUT. Hehehe.. It doesn’t hurt to have extra diba? So like.. mga 2,000 more every 15 days.. EXTRA na ha?? So mga 4,500 times two.. so mga 9,000 a month. YOU’LL LIVE.
Overall, its not costly.
2. would you be kind enough to offer me your place bitaw while i look for a job dia..? sure bitaw ka tin???
Angeli, there is nothing is this world that would make me happy than have you stay with me!! Hehehe!!! I’d rather let you stay WITH ME than let you live with someone else oi crazy ka talaga…
I’m trying to work it out also with one of my housemates ’cause there are 3 rooms sa house. One room is occupied by O. He’s gay and he’s super great. He is also considering getting a roomate. I told him about you and he’s also thinking about it cause he also has his bestfriend live with him – naka book na.
We can stay sa room till you can settle down. I just hope you’ll tolerate me haha We can fit in without any problems… kita pa hehe.. what if di nimo kaya makigroomie with me seeing that I even wanted a room for myself so that I wouldn’t have to live with anyone because I myself wouldn’t want to live with ME. Mwahaha.. but don’t worry, carry ra. I’ll adopt you for mga hmm 3 weeks? Hehe.. 4 weeks?? Ses.. you’ll settle down na by that time. I’ll also go look for a place for you that is just near my place.
Rooms here costs about hmm 1k to 2k.. Ü Houses are 7-9k… Unless you have roomies. Our contract expires next year, and as much as i’d like to move into a new house with you i’m still stuck. Damn.
3. pleasssssssssssssssssseeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! help me find a job theeeere. kay ako worry lang kay basin mawala ko dia if i stroll around. orient me the places and the tang-inang jeeps na sakyan whatsoever….
Heheh.. that’s so easy, gang. I’ll go over to recruitment right now and have them call you for phone interview ha? 🙂
The thing about Cebu is that all routes just circle once. You won’t get lost. PROMISE.
4. how far is your place sa imo work?
15 minutes away. Like from your house in CDO to Limketkai Mall? Corrales?
5. mahal internet dia tin? naa imo duol cafe sa imo house? pila sad per hour?
Cafe? Coffee or internet? Hahah.. .. Yeah, a lot. usually 20pesos. Weird na question ha.
6. pila ka buok imo room/house mates? all boys? or sagol? (how many are you in the house)
One room houses BLESS, ANING, FIDES and TING (4). The other room has O. Then ME. So… 6.
7. gapa laundry ka outside? if yes, pila man? or you do the laundry yourself?
Girl, I do my own! Hehhehe.. I love doing laundry that way I’d know how my clothes are actually taken care of. Hehhe. But except my comforter, can’t kaya it.. It costs 60 siguro the kilo.. so gasto lang like 120. Heheh… before I had a laundromat do my clothes but the last time they lost one top I have and stained another discouraged me so much I was close to having their business shut down hahahahah… hmmm 3 kilos usually.. 30 per kilo so 90.. 0k lang..
3. pila (how much) pamasahe sa jeep dia tin? from your place to your work? or ga taxi ka…
Atay. Pati pa naman yan? Where do you think I am, Amsterdam where jeepney rides cost 2 EUROS? Wahahaha. 6 pesos ha! Ano ka ba. My work starts at 12am till 9am.. I leave the house at 11pm. Taxi is 50.
My house to AYALA CENTER is 40 pesos for 5 minutes; or 2 jeepney rides 10 minutes.
My house to (BTC) Banilad Town Center, my favorite place in the world is 60 pesos taxi 10 mins. Heheh.. 2 jeep rides 15 mins.
My house to Sacred Heart Church is 2 minutes away, walking.
My house to STO. NiñO CHURCH is 10 mins jeep; 5 mins TAXI for P40.
My house to hmm… Crossroads Banilad, is 60 pesos taxi, 2 rides jeep.
My house to Grand Convention Center, is 55 pesos. Hmm 2 jeeps. 🙂
My house to SM is one JEEPNEY for 20minutes or 50 TAXI. 🙂
My house to Fuente is 3 minutes jeep, or P35 taxi 2 minutes.
My house to Shangrila Mactan is 40mins, P150 taxi. Vhire 25pesos 1 hr.
My house to Dumaguete is… ahahha joke.
9. what is your work schedule? para naman at least if mag work ka dili ra KAAYO =) taka ma bother sa ako activities sad: like going out and do job hunting… i cant wait naman gud na mag hulat pako sa jobfair diri cdo… (if you’re working i won’t be bothering you… and i can’t wait for the jobfair.. )
12am-9am.. hehe. pwede man i’ll go with you while you do that.. I sleep around 3pm-10pm hehe.. That’s alright.
10. unsa ako dal-hon dia tin? (what do i need to bring) like do i really have to bring a pillow? but if you have so many there … borrow sa ko for the mean time while im still starting to settle, how bout plate, and all those stuff na gamit sa house? what do you suggest? (dont worry dili ko mag dala sa amo balay dia =) ).– (Don’t worry, I won’t bring my entire house there)
For Official Matters:
Birth Certificate (copies ha)
Certificate of Employment from Previous Employer (copies)
Clearance from Previous Employer
All kinds of photo ID’s
Official Medical Ceritificate from the gov’t
Any medical documents for allergies, sickness, medicine maintenance, etc
For domestic matters:
Bwahahah!!! Crazy! Bring your house! Now na! I have a lot of pillows but ayokong makigshare!! Hahah! Joke! Seriously, bring pillows, I’d know you’d want to have something personal or you could buy here … I just like that I’m surrounded with pillows when I sleep that’s why I have many. Hmm.. I wonder how’s my lovelife is going to be.. hahahah.. I’ll just bring my date somewhere else? My beau! Woohooo he’d be disappointed that he can no longer sleep over. Madismaya yun… that’s how much I love you Anj! K lang yan pillows if you can’t bring any.
i was planning on buying more hihih. gusto ko dami talaga jud… Tapos hmm, yeah we each have our own plates, utensils og baso. Mas best if you have those, but you can borrow mine. hehe..
Suggestions lang ha:
Picture frames/photos of family members
2 storage boxes (any will do – one for papers, the other for shoes, clothes)
Books, Magazine for entertainment
Shower cap (i dont know but i have a feeling this will be important)
Blower, Curling Iron, Straightening Iron
Etc. Tama na.
11. do you dine out permi?? or u do the cooking pud sa imo house? pwede ba?
Yeah! Krua Thai! Bigbys! Table 7! CNT! Majestic! La Maison! Usually maka-shell out ka ng 200-500 the MOST. But… I do groceries. 250-500 pesos for two weeks ONLY that’s just for toiletries and lots of Coke light… If i don’t eat out, I cook at home, we have the necessary appliances to house a party of 10? Hahahah.. There’s a stove, a refrigerator, microwave, etc. SO SOLVE?! My grocery consists of toiletries –the ubiquitous noodles and canned foods, and meat.. no sagbot or a.k.a. veggies kay i dont eat sagbot because im not a goat. hmm this is getting long na ha.
12. tin, pila ang gasto sa food dia per day??? ayaw e.inlcude and imo mga restau2x hah.
Usually workdays, i eat at the sa pantry/canteen because we have no choice or we’d get out sa office and eat at those cute little cafes and restos but you wouldn’t want to know about that.. pantry food is cheap like 30pesos minimum. kung normal days, hmm… kung weekends, i cook sa house or lunch out or dine out. better kung EAT AT HOME. heheh.. but sometimes hunger pangs kick in at 3am so we’d go out and eat shitty fastfood from joints like jollibee, singangag express, mcdonalds, chowking, space burger, UGH, or better Abuhan Dos and Big Bucks cafe.
There. Her last words were:
i dont have any idea how it is like to be independent baya… tthanksss!!! love you tinn!!
Naks, Anj. You’d better start now sweetie. Now na. Make that before the month ends so we’ll still catch up with Rona. Hahaha.
